I am currently preparing for an exhibition at the New Ashgate Gallery entitled 'Zen Garden' where the work featured has been inspired by the Waterperry Gardens project mentioned below and is a celebration of nature.
I recently completed a Solo Exhibition at the North Wall Arts Centre in Oxford where the beautiful space allowed me to show not only a series of prints but also a central installation and some more experimental pieces which are printed, folded and then cut to create a range of abstract compositions.
I also collaborated with a group of artists in a special project inspired by Waterperry Gardens entitled 'The Printed Garden'.
In researching the history of Waterperry I learned that Leon MacLaren, the founder of the School of Philosophy & Economic Science, who are the custodians of the gardens, was interested in philosophy and 'The Love of Wisdom' as a means of gaining deeper insights into the natural laws governing humanity.
As I looked to incorporate that idea into my work for the current exhibition, I decided to create a print of a crane because, in many cultures, it symbolises wisdom, longevity, spiritual growth, positive energy and longevity.
